What Is Video AI?

How It Works
Overwatch’s video AI uses video-initiated camera feeds to identify and notify specific people and items. This allows for the surveillance of enrolled persons and assets, and the observation of persons of interest. All of this may be done in real-time, or with the use of historically recorded video data through post-processing. In many deployment situations, this technology has the potential to save lives while also saving your agency or department valuable time and money.
Applied AI
The algorithm works by first identifying people visible in a photograph or video. From that collection, it builds an identifiable set of characteristics or features for each visible person. These "features" are nothing more than a list of mathematical computations stored in a database based on an individual's height, build, posture, skin color, hair color and style, clothing, accessories, and footwear.
Finally, each observable individual is given a unique ID within the Anno Vision system. The model adjusts the feature calculations as additional details are incorporated with each new photograph or video frame. The longer a person is observed in camera streams or recordings, the better the model for that person gets.

When you initiate the system to identify and alert you when persons or profiles of interest are recognized in video data, you can then easily identify associated activity, such as criminal casing, surveillance, and threat profiles, by detecting when and where a person is seen on multiple cameras.
